STATEMENT

My practice centres on the emotional and sensory potential of painting and drawing. I am exploring the ability to communicate beyond language—how the act of making can evoke memory, stir feeling, disrupt or soothe. There is a deep, intuitive joy in working with colour and mark making: in its tensions and harmonies, its physicality, and its power to hold both personal and collective resonance.

 I am fascinated by the tactile immediacy and intuitive intelligence of art-making the way a gesture, a texture, a layer of pigment can carry meaning that creates a language. There is a quiet joy in this process: a space where thinking is done through doing, where emotion and memory are translated not just into images, but into relationships between surface, gesture, and hue.

My paintings exist as sites of negotiation—between inner experience and material reality, between the past and the present moment of making. Through them, I explore making not just as a means of expression, but as a field of inquiry in its own right: one that holds space for ambiguity, intimacy, and sensory knowledge.
